Water Inquiry

Today we began our water inquiry by examining 5 different jars of 'water'. The only clue to what was in the jar was a letter (T,W,D, P or RR). Groups had to describe what they saw and some brave souls smelled the contents in their jar! They came up with some interesting descriptions of their samples. Take a peek at what they came up with!

We decided in the end that the jar with the label T was probably the best (and safest) to drink.  It came from a tap...the one with the slug did not look refreshing at all!
We also listened to the story "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" because it will be in the movie theatre this weekend!

Have a gobble. gobble weekend!

All About Me Piccollages

Using the Piccollage app, we created posters about...US!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall and We are Thankful

Yesterday, we read the story "The Secret of Saying Thanks" (ask your child what the secret is!) and then we wrote down what we were thankful on a 'turkey' feather.  It looks beautiful and there are a lot of things we are thankful for!

We have been collecting lots of cans for the Barrhaven Food Cupboard.  Our bin is overflowing but keep bringing them in!  The two classes to bring in the most cans get to duct tape Mrs. Green and Mr. Rodgers to the wall!

Global Read Aloud and October Newsletter

This week, I will be sending home the October Newsletter.  If you cannot find it, check the sidebar of the blog (Newsletters) and you will find a copy there:) The Global Read Aloud begins today!  We have just begun to read the book (we started a little early), 'The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane'. Why the Global Read Aloud?

GRA Badge"Global collaboration is necessary to show students that they are part of something bigger than them.  That the world needs to be protected and that we need to care for all people.  You can show them pictures of kids in other countries but why not have them speak to each other?  Then the caring can begin." Friendship Celebration and Number Stories

Every day we have been working on a Brain Buster.  Our focus has been on answering number stories.  If you need more practice, click here  *remember to look at key words to help you figure out if it is an addition or subtraction story.
On Thursday, all the grade two students got together to get to know each other better.  We had to opportunity to meet new friends and sing a wonderful song called "Count on Me".  Check out this video of our get together!
