Mr. Rodgers read the story of the Apple Star and we all got to eat an apple at the end. Later, we taste tested 4 different kinds of apples: Empire, Spartan, Russett and McIntosh. Which was your favourite?
For the Global Read Aloud this week, we read the book 'The Reader' by Amy Hest and illustrated by Lauren Castillo (our author study).
What a great story to use for visualization! So many adjectives and description-you could really see what was happening in the story even if you didn't look at the pictures. We explored the picture at the end of the book and wondered what the picture might be about. Afterwards, we had to create a book trailer for one of our favourite books. Some students tried our the green screen too! We posted to our Seesaw accounts as well as a Padlet.
Later, we had a Mystery Google Hangout with other grade three classes. Our first attempt did not go well due to camera problems. Another group joined us after recess and we had to guess where they were from based on clues given by the students. Turns out they were from St. Cecilia in Barrhaven, Thanks again to Mrs. Brownrigg and Mrs. McCuen for our first Mystery Hangout. We gave them clues too! We will definitely be having more hangouts...hopefully the computer camera will work then:)
