Today we listened to the story "Squirrel's New Year's Resolution" and did a shared retell using a Shape Go Map.

We also continue to work on our Forces of Nature slideshows.  Students will be presenting to the class on Monday:)

As well, one of Learning Skills focus for this term is Independent Work.  We co-created an anchor chart together and filled out an Exit Ticket about how we would improve our IW skills in the classroom.

Library, Reconciliation, Retells and #OneWord

Tomorrow we have library in the Learning Commons.  Please make sure they have been returned:)
The students who are making their First Communion this year will be celebrating their First Reconciliation on Tuesday, January 19 at 7pm  in our gym.

In Language, we continue to work on retelling stories.  Today we read the story 'Squirrel's New Year's Resolution'- a story about a squirrel who thought she didn't have a resolution but actually did!

Instead of coming up with a New Year's Resolution, we are joining the #OneWord movement.  We brainstormed words that would inspire us to be the best we could be in 2016.  We came up with a lot of amazing words!  After brainstorming and finding a word just right for us, we began to design our word on cardstock.  Stay tuned for the video that will be created when we are finished!

Inuit Games, Christmas Retells and the Christmas Story

This morning we had a wonderful presentation by Dion on Inuit games during our gym period.  We learned a great deal about Inuit culture and showed a lot of GRIT while trying out these sometimes difficult games.  Way to go, Grade 2!

Yesterday we read the story "Mortimer's Christmas Manger" and completed a Shape Go Map together.  The students are getting quite good at completing retells.  In the new year, students will be asked to complete them independently.  Here is the retell of the story:
