This Week

Thanks to all the parents who came out on a rainy Friday morning to visit the school.  I hope you got a chance to see our birch bark tree art, The Best Part of Me and our Mother Earth letters using the Tellagami app. I was busy at the Open House photo booth and could not be in the portable...my apologies!
In math, we have been exploring the properties of 2D shapes and angles.  Students have gained an understanding of what a right angle is (like the corner of a piece of paper).  They use this angle as a benchmark to find angles that are greater than (obtuse) or smaller than (acute) a right angle.  Some of the properties of 2D shapes that we use to compare shapes include: # of vertices, # of angles (and kind), sides (length), parallel lines and symmetry.
In Drama, we have been developing our tableau skills.  A tableau requires the actor to freeze a moment and use facial expression to convey a scene.  The class is getting very good at this!

We have become excellent skippers in preparation for our Jump Rope for Heart event coming up in June.  Some of the students can do tricks while they skip!
Yesterday, we got into pairs to begin construction of our playground (play structure) for Nibbles. On Monday, we will make sure our structure is strong and stable for Nibbles to roam around on...
Maya proves her structure is STRONG and STABLE
