Homework for Mom and Dad

Please remember to pay the Student Activity fee online (School Cash Online) by September 30th.

Today we read two new books. We read Chrysanthemum and Molly Lou Melon.  After reading Chrysanthemum, we had to figure out how many consonants and vowels we had in our own names. Later, we read Molly Lou Melon and talked about the author's message which is to be proud of your gifts and talents.  We also had to pick our favourite part of the story. In math, we collaborated with another person to pick a number between 11 and 50.  Our job was to come up with as many ways to represent the number we chose.  Some chose tally marks and others chose a number line. Together, the classes made an anchor chart to help us when we have to work independently.

Your son/daughter has brought home two pieces of homework for mom and dad.  The first piece is to write about how you chose your child's name in the Chrysanthemum booklet.  Please return the booklet by September 21st. Thanks in advance for all your help! The other piece of homework is to sign the Technology Agreement.  We will be using the ipads and chrome books a lot in grade two so it is important to sign and return this form. Please read it over with your child so they are aware of their responsibilities.

If you have never read the story of Chrysanthemum, take a peek below!
