Lloyd is back, Retells, Fluency and Growing Necklace

Uh...heeeeee's baaaaack!  Lloyd must have followed me from my former school in Stittsville!  I haven't seen him in a few years but I guess he missed me.  He is usually a kind and generous elf but sometimes he can be mischievous.  I will have to make sure I have my broom handy at all times.
This morning he had a message for the students (at least he did not mess up my room!).

During our Language Stations last week, students had the opportunity to use the audioboom app and record their voices while reading.  First, they had to choose a book at their level.  Next, they had to record themselves reading for one minute.  Then, students had to fill out a fluency self-evaluation sheet (Did I read with expression?  Did I know the words? ...).

After choosing a goal to work on, they recorded their reading again and played it back to see if they met the challenge. Here are a few examples of our 'boos':

In math, we continue to work on pattering.  Today, students partnered up to solve the following problem:
Matas and Rubi did a great job of showing their solution.  Well done!
In reading, we are learning how to retell a story using a Shape Go Map.  Today, we read the story 'Bear's Loose Tooth' and wrote about our favourite part of the story.  Ask your child what the story was about!
